Pantech Group has Unveiled “Bone-Conduction Handset in Japan
- Third model for KDDI “Pantech- au A1407PT” is to be supplied the end of this month -
- “Pantech- au A1407PT” handset is unveiled as third model for KDDI, which features bone conduction of voice by vibration…to be sold from the November nationwide in Japan
- User can hear voice of caller only by contacting the bone conduction speaker on his/her head…to solve problem of communication in noisy place and for old people and people with auditory handicap.
- 6cm wide QVGA class LCD where large characters are displayed, having three one-touch buttons below the display
- With success of “Pantech-au” A1405PT and A1406PT, the third model is unveiled to continue rapid growth in Japan
A new model handset which needs not to get closed to ear to communicate is unveiled by Pantech Group.
Pantech Group (www.pantech.co.kr, vice president, Park, Byeong-Yeop) announced that the third model handset ‘Pantech-au A1407PT’ supplied to KDDI, the second largest mobile telecommunication operator, is unveiled and is planed to be soled from this November. This handset can conduct voice through bone by vibration.
Bone conduction means sound wave is conducted through people’s skull by vibration and further to inner ear to let people hear. “Pantech-au A1407PT” is an innovative product that has a bone-conduction speaker attached on the front of handset and voice of the other side can be heard by user by vibration only contacting it to head, which is the second launching of “Bond conducting” handset in the world.
“A1407PT” is very useful for employees who frequently leave for outside duty since this handset can be conveniently used in noisy places such as construction site, interchange with heavy traffic and subway station. This handset is also very suited for the auditory handicap and old people.
Especially, A1407PT is designed to make use of “Bone conduction ” function and you can only press the side key with the main body closed to make a call and talk with bone conduction speaker with the folder closed. Volume control is also available with the side key.
Attached 6cm wide QVGA class LCD and large characters displayed, even the weak-sighted elderly can easily use this handset. Also, three one-touch buttons are arranged below LCD screen considering difficulty of keys operation for old people and dialing to a frequently used number can be made by simply pressing one of them just like using a short key.
Pantech- au A1407PT has also attracted public attention from before launching with being granted ‘Friendly Design’ label by KDDI recently by recognition of innovative improvement in design and convenience in use. Even attached bone conduction speaker, folder type (98 * 51 * 27(mm), 129g) A1407PT does not look clumsy in appearance but is clean and refined in design.
In addition a strong alarm is sounded when pressing and holding (#) button to for self-protection as anti-crime alarm. Various multimedia functions such as built-in 135 mega pixel camera, games and IrDA communication and so on are also supported.

Pantech Group exported its product the first in November to Japan, 2005 with Pantech-au A1405PT as a Korean company. Then in September, 2006 it launched the second model A1406PT targeting the elderly and recorded million seller as the first foreign company in Japanese handset market.
Pantech Group is planned to continue to launch new product in Japanese market after launching of the third model based on its know-how refined in Japanese market in past two years to prop up its presence in Japanese market.
